Found From Canada

I have received my first bit of mail art from my post on http://www.mail-art.de. It is a website where people advertise for other people to send them a contribution toward their mail art projects or collections. Check it out, I find it quite interesting.

This is the first envelope that was put through my postbox. Oh the excitement was almost too much to bare! There was so much going on with the envelope. It was lumpy and bumpy and I was very intrigued to see what was inside. My post asked for people to send me stuff that they had found... So I opened it and I found a selection of goodies.

A Bowtie, a badge, a plastic man in a plastic bag, a money boat, and a postcard explaining where everything was found. My favorite is the silk bowtie. I have absolutely no idea how to tie it though. The pattern on it is lovely and it is silky soft. The sender (who i am keeping anonymous, as i am not sure they want their name sprawled on the web) said that she found it on the street of vancouver...and what I love about it more is that it has a 'made in England' tag on it! What a multicultural tie, well travelled and now it has found its way back to England. I am going to find a way of wearing it...james bong style, undone and hanging around my neck. I have a waistcoat and a pair of suspenders that will go with it nicely!

And then there were these photos in the envelope as well. Now this may just be me, tell me if you find this a bit strange as well...but is it not a bit weird to send a complete stranger photos from your holiday collection. In a way I found it quite creepy. In a way it gives me a picture of the person who has sent these things to me, but the image I had in my head of the person who sent me this bizarre collection of items is completely different to the person in the picture. And that isn't meant in a negative way at all. But it just got me thinking about preconceptions you can have of people. She did say that the man in the photo is her ex-husband so then I thought maybe this is a good way to get rid of photos of ones ex without tearing them up or even burning them is a crazy breakup fit!
